Blossoms of Bliss: A Journey with the Mother Divine Programme℠

What began as a simple task—keeping the Peace Palace filled with fresh flowers—became one of the most joyful and unexpected adventures of our time in the Blissful Life Programme℠.

Because we needed supplies to fulfill our responsibility, we discovered many lovely flowers growing on and around our campus we could easily harvest. Not only were the cultivated gardens of the Peace Palace abundant with iris, lily and daisies, and we were invited to pick these, but the roadsides and forests were full of crocosmia, wild fennel and agapanthus. We delighted in the magnificent Pohutukawa Red Christmas Trees and the abundant Magnolia trees in great numbers in the adjoining neighbourhoods. Sometimes we could not resist taking a sample of these back to our residence if they were blooming in the road mediums or in designated public green spaces in neighbourhoods. White gardenias were especially valued, but we rarely found them available to pick. They were a staple of cultivated gardens so we simply enjoyed them on our walks and left them for others to admire and smell.

Often two of us would share this responsibility for a week and then give others a chance to take over the same responsibility. We admired each others creativity and honoured each other for artistic displays. It was a very sweet way to work together on a project and to get to know one another. Birthday celebrations were always a cause for large flower creations and making them generated such joy in our hearts and the atmosphere!

The habit of walking early every morning before our TM and TM-Sidhi programme proved to be very worthwhile. Taking an empty shopping bag with us, we would fill it with whatever petaled treasures we found on our path, careful to never pick from someone else’s cultivated garden or yard. Returning to campus, we would share the bag full of flowers. Beautiful bouquets and displays would materialize under busy hands and evident joy.

We all agreed it was an uplifting experience to walk into the Peace Palace and see immediately a beautiful display of fresh flowers. Creating these bouquets was the second most effective way to generate bliss, number one being our extended group programmes, of course. It also gave us a sense of shared caring for our temporary home and a way to express ourselves to each other in beauty. A very wise man indeed had structured our every moment of every day.
